Retirement Village Services
Q: I'm an electrical and communications contractor based in Perth Western Australia. I'm currently tendering on a new construction project which is a retirement village. As part of the communications installation the client has asked for a wireless network access point for the village, I understand that the wireless access point will be centrally located with an external antenna and each residential unit (upto 100) will have the option to log onto the village network and internet. I guess given the distances some of the residences will also require external antennas. Can you give me some idea of the equiment required to undertake this, specifications, costs etc I assume you can supply?
Will the clients connect using handheld or laptop wireless equipment? If so, then I would recommend a 2.4GHz based system based on the Mikrotik RB/433 (http://shop.duxtel.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=42) or RB/433AH (http://shop.duxtel.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=50) routers.
You can set up a single device in a suitable outdoor enclosure and antenna which will provide coverage to residential units within about a hundred meters. With a suitable outdoor CPE device, like our DuxClient (http://shop.duxtel.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=47) system, this range can extend to several kilometers.
If the clients will connect ONLY via outdoor CPE, then a solution based on 5GHz wireless would provide improved service reliability due to less interference in the 5.8GHz band, especially around urban and built-up areas. All of our DuxTel systems are capable of operating in 5GHz band as well as 2.4GHz.
If the clients will predominantly connect via their own equipment (e.g. WiFi laptop etc) then the most common solution is to deploy multiple outdoor access points linked together using a Wireless WDS mesh. This is an easy way to improve and extend coverage in a relatively ad-hoc manner as demand requires.
We also provide 30 days complete installation support with all products sold, and can assist with your network deployment planning.
For a turn-key wireless internet access solution, our DuxTel Internet Commander system might be the ideal solution for you. The DuxTel Internet Commander provides a complete customer administration and management solution to build and deploy a wireless ISP system complete with flexible access plan definitions, billing and e-invoicing and even credit card payment solutions out-of-the-box. Together with our DuxMaster outdoor gateway (http://shop.duxtel.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=36) and DuxBooster network extender (http://shop.duxtel.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=60), we can provide everything you need to ramp up in very quick time.
The DuxTel Internet Commander is completely brandable, so that customers will see only the corporate brand and contact details of the host service provider. If this kind of project is something that you expect to be involved with often, you may be interested in considering a reseller arrangement where you would be able to offer the Internet Commander system as your own value add offering.
If there is anything further that we can do to assist with your project tender, please feel free to ask.
